Bhubaneswar: The union petroleum minister, Dharmendra Pradhan,  Tuesday requested the  Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik fro early clearances for the Rs9,785 crore Talcher Thermal Power Station  expansion project by the NTPC. The Central power generating company is proposing to expand the capacity of TTPS  by adding two super critical units of 660 MW at Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district. .

The project investment of Rs9,785 crore got the NTPC board approval on September 10, 2018. The project required the clearance of the state government’s High-Level Clearance Committee (HLCC) headed by chief minister. NTPC has obtained land, water, environmental and other statutory clearances. NTPC, which has applied for the clearance on April 19,2017 is waiting for the approval, pointed out the union minister in his letter to the chief minister.

NTPC is proposing to invest a total of Rs 24,000 crores in brown and green field power projects in the state.
