TOP (Tomato, Onion & Potato) Expo and Summit 2018 concludes
Bhubaneswar: As many as 10 agro-firms expressed their intention to invest in Odisha’s agriculture sector.
Premier irrigation company Adritech Ltd,, Keventer Agro, Samvi Hi-Fresh Foods, Tirupati Exports, Dynamic Agri Consultant, Arrangefresh.com and Safal have shown interest to invest in the agriculture and food sector in the state. The companies participated in the B2B meeting of the TOP Expo and Summit 2018, which concluded here on Firday.
Addressing the TOP (Tomato, Onion and Potato) Expo and Summit organized jointly by Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and state agriculture department, the state minister for MSME said that the state has a total of 61.80 hectares of cultivable land and 90% of farming community is small and marginal farmers. Budgetary outlay of agriculture & allied sectors has increased from Rs 7162 crore in 2013-14 to Rs 14930 crore during 2017-18, he added.
State development commissioner Asit Tripathy calls for rotation farming in the state. He urges farmers to produce exportable agriculture commodity.
Director of agricultural marketing Ravindra Pratap Singh, ICC convener Sriram Panda and M Muthukumar also addressed the summit.
