Vadodara: The union mines minister, Narendra Singh Tomar, unveiled the official mascot Incal 2019 ‘ALUMOF’, here on Monday. The unveiling ceremony was graced by union mines secretary Anil Mukim, union parliamentary affairs secretary SN Tripathy, mines joint secretary Anil Kumar Nayak, Nalco CMD and Aluminium Association of India (AAI) chairman TK Chand .
Alumof, which stands for Aluminium – The Metal of the Future, is the mascot for International Conference on Aluminium (Incal) 2019 slated to be held in Bhubaneswar from January 31 to February 3, 2019.
Incal will be held in Bhubaneswar for the first time, under the aegis of ministry of mines and organized by Aluminium Association of India (AAI). More than 1000 delegates, including 300 foreign delegates from 20 countries with ambassadors, high commissioners, consul generals will participate in the mega aluminium meet.
The key focus areas of Incal 2019 will be to project aluminium as the futuristic metal at the international level, increase domestic consumption of the metal at the national level and project Odisha as the Aluminium Capital of India as the state already produces more than 60% of the national production and is a storehouse of the raw material bauxite.
On the sidelines of the meeting of parliamentary consultative committee, Tomar also inaugurated a CSR coffee-table book ‘Samvedana – The Empathy’. The coffee-table book provides a pictorial depiction of the myriad CSR activities being undertaken by Nalco in its various focus areas, including impactful intervention in healthcare, sanitation, drinking water, education, environmental sustainability, infrastructure development, sports, art and culture, community care, livelihood.
