Mumbai: Jharkhand governor Draupadi Murmu conferred the prestigious Odishara Baraputra (Business Leadership) Award on Nalco CMD Tapan Kumar Chand at a function of ‘Ama Utkarsh Odisha’ , organised by the Prabasi Odia Community of Mumbai, here on Sunday. The award was conferred on Chand for promoting heritage , industrial excellence and cultural glory of Odisha, and spreading Odia brotherhood through exemplary work in the field of industry and business.
Under the leadership Chand, Nalco in last four years has registered consistent growth in production, productivity, profitability and people engagement. The company has also achieved global benchmark being recognised as the lowest cost and high quality producer of alumina. Adding to this, under his leadership, Nalco has taken up extensive CSR projects in the areas of health care, education, infrastructure development, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and empowerment of the girl child, to contribute goodness to society.
