Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD and the opposition BJP in the state are well ahead of the main opposition party Congress so far as preparing poll publicity materials.

The BJD and BJP are now busy with Election Commission’s certification of their publicity materials. Everyday, the parties are dumping the office of the Chief Election Officer, here with video and audio CDs, posters, banners, leaf-lets.

The BJD has prepared a 35 minute video CD listing out the achievement of the Naveen Patnaik government in the last five years. The party’s audio-visual vans would play the this CD in the villages and nook and corners of the urban and semi-urban towns and cities.

The BJP, on the other hand, has come out with number of short duration video clips highlighting the failure of the BJD government and questioning the claims of achievement by the government in the state.

BJP has prepared a musical album with Sambalpuri songs to attract the voters in the western part of the state.

The Congress, however, is yet to come out with its publicity materials. One or two posters have been released by the party in the social media. The party’s catchline is Asuchi Congress. The party has prepared a poster for women voters with slogan Swasthya, Surakhya and Sanmman for women.

India Whispers has overheard that the Congress party is yet to pick up a ad. agency to handle its publicity. The team headed by Anand Sharma has shortlisted the agencies. But, the party is not able to take a decision because of the intervention of Jayram Ramesh. Ramesh, who was in charge of Congress’ publicity during the 2014 elections, failed the party miserably during the last elections. Interestingly, the Japanese firm that had the Congress account got the DAVP approval immediately after BJP came to power in 2014.
