New Delhi: The much awaited Naveen-Modi meeting was held here on Tuesday. But, to the disappointment many the issue of offering the post of Lok Sabha deputy speaker to BJD and the implementation of Aysman Bharat health scheme in Odisha did not figure in the meeting.
There was lot of speculation in the political circle here and also in Odisha that the chief minister and the prime minister will discuss about nominating a BJD candidate for the Lok Sabha deputy speaker post. There were media reports that the BJP is keen to offer the post to BJD’s Bhatruhari Mehtab.
Similarly, there was expectation that the prime minister would broach the issue of implementation of Aysman Bharat Yojana in the state with the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik. Odisha is one among the four states those have not accepted the universal health insurance scheme launched by the Modi government.
PatnaikOdisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Tuesday met the prime minister Narendra Modi at the latter’s official residence here and sought Central assistance for restoration work in the aftermath of cyclone FANI in the state.
Patnaik, in fact, asked for Rs 5,000 crore financial assistance for cyclone Fani and 5 lakh pucca houses for the cyclone affected people. He also reiterated his demands for Special Category State status to Odisha and revision of coal royalty.
“I met the Prime Minister and asked for Rs 5,000 crore assistance for cyclone FANI and 5 lakh pucca houses for the affected people,” Patnaik told mediapersons soon after his 20-minute meeting with the PM was over. “I also asked for the revision of coal royalty which hasn’t been done for a number of years… that will give us a lot of revenue,” he said.
On being asked by reporters whether he had discussion over the implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme in Odisha or Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker post, the CM answered in negative.
