“Shapoorji Pallonji Group contributed Rs 51 lakhs towards Orissa Chief Minister’s relief fund for Fani affected areas”
Gopalpur: Shapoorji Pallonji Group , which operates Gopalpur port in Odisha, contributed Rs 51 lakhs towards Orissa Chief Minister’s relief fund for Fani affected areas. Gopalpur Port Director and CEO Sandeep Agarwal and Shapoorji Pallonji Ports AVP Jagdish Rout presented the electronic transfer documents to the chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday.
Earlier, Shapoorji Pallonji Ports donated a 1,000/ million litre per day Aqua Guard RO water purification system to the Puri Medical Hospital. Imediately following the devastation caused due to cyclone Fani, SP Group conducted a 3 day relief camp for affected families of Puri district.
Close to 240 affected families in Mangarajpur village (120 families), Chakrabati Patna village (60 families), Utter Bhoi Sahi villages (60 families) under Puri Sadar block had received relief kits.
Restoration relief materials were provided to district officials including diesel generator set of 82.5 KVA capacity to address the electricity disruption caused by the cyclone. Similarly, heavy machinery, trucks etc were provided from the port for clearing debris and other relief works in Bhubaneshwar, Puri and other affected areas.
Managing director Shapoorji Pallonji Ports said “we have contributed to the massive relief work being undertaken by the government of Orissa and have attempted to help the people of the Odisha at the grass root level”.
