Bhubaneswar: Railway Board chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav Sunday said that East Coast Railway will join the 200 Million Tonne Club this fiscal as it’s all set to achieve the target of loading 200 million tonnes for 2019-20.

Yadav, who visited the Bhubaneswar railway station today along with ECo Railway general manager Vidya Bhusan, said the MoU with the Odisha government will be signed very soon to re-develop the main entrance of the Smart City railway station. According to him all the issues regarding signing of MoU with the state government has been sorted out. “It will be signed soon,” he said.

The CRB said the second entry to Bhubaneswar station from PF-6 side will be developed and fund has been provided to improve circulating area and road connectivity to the station.

Stating that the ECo Rly zone has some important ongoing projects, he regretted that the the projects are making slow progress due to land acquisition problem.

Last year allocated fund for the projects of the state has not been fully utilised due to land acquisition problem, he disclosed and added this year more funds than previous year has been allocated expecting land acquisition problem will be sorted out.
On demand to run more trains from Bhubaneswar, Yadav said new trains will be introduced from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack soon. “A survey has been sanctioned this year to run freight trains by-passing Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. It will facilitate to run more trains from Bhubaneswar and Cuttack soon.”
