Angul:Nalco has ordered a high-level probe into the Tuesday fire accident at its Angul smelter plant.
In a major fire mishap in the Angul smelter plant of Nalco, here on Tuesday morning, four workers sustained serious burn injuries. The victims were shifted to local hospitals immediately for treatment. Later, they were shifted to a super speciality trauma care centre in Cuttack.
Nalco spokesperson said, ” A high-level inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate into the cause of the incident.”
Meanwhile the Nalco CMD Tapan Kumar Chand visited the victims of the unfortunate fire incident in the Cuttack hospital. He urged the doctors attending the patients to provide the best possible medical care. He also interacted with the victims and wished them a speedy recovery.
Chand also interacted with the family members of the victims and assured them all support from Nalco.
A Nalco press release said,”An unfortunate electrical fire hazard took place in Nalco’s smelter plant today morning.” ” One employee, one contractual employee and two apprentices were injured in the incident”, it said adding, “Officials of Nalco brought the fire under control immediately with minimal damage to life and property”, it added.
