Bhubaneswar: Sudhanshu Sarangi, a 1990-batch IPS officer, took over the charge of the Commissioner of Police of twin city Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, here on Wednesday. He replaced Satyajit Mohanty, who has been posted as Additional DGP (Prisons) and Director Correctional Services (DCS).

Sarangi on assuming the new responsibility said that his priority would be controlling crime in the twin-city by leveraging advanced technology. He was, in fact, instrumental in technological upgradation of Odisha policing system as he was the Director of State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) before being posted as Commissioner of Police. He was the instrumental in introducing technology in policing. He stressed on intelligence based policing to curb the rising trend of crime in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.

“There are several strategies in policing. Some believe in community policing and some in problem solving policing. But, I personally believe in intelligence-led policing,” Sarangi told media.
