New Delhi: The union ministry of home affairs has received as many as 25,317 nominations/ recommendations for Padma Awards-2020. The number is likely to cross 30,000 as there are 16 days left for filing the nominations/ recommendations. The last date for receiving the nominations/ recommedation is September 15, 2019.
Online nominations/recommendations for Padma Awards-2020 started on 1st May, 2019. Already 25,317 registrations have been made on the portal, against which 23,865 nominations/recommendations have been completed, according to a PIB press release.
Padma Awards seek to recognize ‘work of distinction’ and is given for distinguished and exceptional achievements/service in all fields/disciplines. All persons without any distinction of race, caste, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these Awards. Government servants including those working with PSUs, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for Padma Awards.
