Bhubaneswar: Bengali newspapers decide the recognition of Bengali writers, said eminent Bengali poet Rupak Chakrabarty. And, he added, this has become a tradition in Bengali literature.
Speaking about the contemporary literary scenario in Bengal at the Bhubaneswar Sahitya Samaja’s literary session, here on Saturday, the Bengali poet said that two premier Bengali dailies decide the fame of literary personalities. And, Bengali readers accepts this eminence of the literatures. This is the reason why despite high brow literary achievements, youngsters wait for this newspapers recognition, he regretted.
Rupak Chakrabarty said that the narratives about the young writers of Odisha in social media is quite encouraging.
Chakrabarty recited some of his poems on this occasion. Ramakanta Gochhayat recited three of his poems in the “Poet of this month” series of Sahitya Samaja.
Sahitya Samaja president Surya Mishra presided over the literary session. Vice president Rakhak Nayak introduced the guest poet as a powerful writer of Bengal. Vice president Minati Dash, Chamaka Chandini Das and Ambika Swain compared a poetry recitation session. Poets like Manjula Tripathy, Priya Ranjan Sahu, Kamalini Devi, Dinabandhu Panda, Ramesh Prasad Mohanty, Bipin Bihari Mohanty, Minakhi Singh, Hemanta Chotray, Gourahari Panda, Narayan Choudhury, Surendra Panigrahi, Yasabanta Sethi, Yogananda Sahu, Golak Bihari Sahu, Natabar Acharya, Sudhir Maudamani, Priya Ranjan Mohanty recited their poems.
