Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia poet Padmabhusan Ramakanta Rath inaugurated the Nirbhaya LitFest 2019, here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Rath said writer is only a medium between the God and the readers. He said writers should realise that one is able to write because the supreme creator desires so. According to him, novel and poetry should be written keeping in mind the taste of the readers.
Gracing the LitFest as chief guest children literature writer Das Benhur said a writer brings out the good values of the characters in the world.
Poetess Manini Mishra gave the welcome address. Nirbhaya editor Nabin Das and associate editor Sambit Mohapatra, literary critic Asit Mohanty and poet Sarat Dash graced the occasion.
Young poet and translator Bharat Majhi and short story writer Sanjay Bhatt were conferred with Nibhrya Sahitya Sanmman 2019.
Sadananda Tripathy, Ajaya Swain, Prakash Mohapatra and Sarojinit Sahu participated in a literary panel discussion. Twelve poets –Mamta Das, Durga Sarangi, Surya Mishra, Akhya Behera, Rakhak Nayak, Sarmistha Sahu, Amresh Biswal, Shakti Mohanty, Badal Mohanty, Ipsita Sarangi, Saroj Bala and Ranjita Panda –recited their poetries. Manini Mishra compared the poetry recitation session.
