Bhubaneswar: Former MLAs squatting in the government quarters in Bhubaneswar city have asked to vacant the accommodation immediately. The illegal occupants VIPs have been threatened that the government would be forced to disconnect electricity and water supply to the quarters unless vacated immediately.
The Odisha Legislative Assembly speaker, Surjya Narayan Patro, Monday directed former MLAs to vacate their government quarters immediately. He has issued an ultimatum to the squatters legislators to vacate failing which electricity and water supply to the concerned quarters will be stopped.
According to sources, many of the MLAs who were defeated and some of the MLAs who have got elected to Lok Sabha as MP have not vacated their quarters even after 5 months of completion of their tenure. This has resulted in the Assembly secretariat unable to allot quarters to the newly elected MLAs.
