Bhubaneswar: The union petroleum and steel minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has sought the intervention of Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and the union urban development and housing minister Hardeep Singh Puri in expediting the works of Rourkela Smart City projects.
Pradhan, writing letters to Patnaik and Puri separately on Wednesday, has expressed concern over non-utilisation of funds earmarked for the Rourkela Smart City projects. He has pointed out that out of Rs376 crore sanctioned only Rs 22.23 crore has been spend till now. And, out of this Rs 22.23 crore, Rs 16.36 crore has been paid as consultancy fees.
“It is unfortunate that four years hence since the sanction of grants from the Centre and the State government, RSL has not able to show significant progress in the project “, lamented Pradhan.
He has urged the union urban development minister and Odisha chief minister to intervene into the matter to expedite the project work.
