Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Wednesday announced Rs 1000 crore for SCB Medical College & Hospital of Cuttack with an aim to make it a AIIM Plus rank hospital. He said that the institution would be one among the top 3 in the country. Presently, SCB ranks 14 in the country.
Patnaik said that the SCB Medical College would be developed into a 3000-beded integrated hospital with all state-of-the-art facilities for treatment and comfort of the patients, attendants, doctors and students.
The chief minister discussed about the various issues pertaining to the medical college with the professors, students and administrators of the SCB medical college in the evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Patnaik said that SCB Medical College would be developed in such a way that all the medical professionals settled outside of the State would aspire to come here and serve the people of Odisha. He said an ecosystem with best accommodation and recreational facilities would be put in place to attract the best brains in health sector to this institution.
The chief minister said from 3 medical colleges the State is now going to have 10 such institutions.
