Bhubaneswar: Somesh Kar and Snehashree Sahoo bagged first prizes in the Painting Competition on Energy Conservation 2019. While Somesh stood first in the category A of classes IV,V and VI, Snehashree got the top prize in category B of classes VII, VIII and IX.
The students who stood first, second and third in category “A” and “B” in the State Level painting competition will participate in the national level Painting Competition in Delhi during the second week of December.
A total of 6.33 lakhs students in Orissa participated in the school level painting competition in Energy Conservation 2019, organised by the NTPC Bhubaneswar on behalf of Bureau of Energy Efficiency, ministry of power. Out of 6.33 lakh students, 100 students qualified for the State level competition. At the State level competition, the top three students from each A & B categories besides ten consolation prizes for each categories were given cash prizes of Rs 50,000(first prize), Rs 30,000 (second prize), Rs 20,000 (third prize) and Rs 7,500 (consolation prize).
The State project director, Odisha School Education Programme Authority (OSEPA), Bhupinder Singh Punia, gave away the prizes to the winning students. The chief general manager of NTPC, Anil Jana, general manager(HR) Milan Kumar and Manas Ranjan Samal of OSEPA graced the occasion.
Punia appreciated the efforts of the children in making the paintings on the theme of Energy Conservation and thus imbibing the habit of energy conservation in their daily life.
Jana , while speaking on the occasion, lauded the efforts of the participants and expressed hope that the children will perform even better in national level competition.
