Bhubaneswar:Odisha Tourism is launching Eco Retreat to promote the Puri-Konark Marine Drive as a premium beach holiday destination for high-end tourists.
The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, will inaugurate the Eco Retreat on Saturday.
“We realise that Puri-Konark Marine Drive, despite boasting a synthesis of heritage, nature, artistic finesse and food, was largely a day destination. It’s potential as a premium beach holiday destination was under exploited. While we fortified our vision with the principles of sustainable development, the destination as an experience rich beach tourism hub of global standard was undaunted,” said the State tourism minister Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi.
The tourism secretary, Vishal Dev, said ” The Marine Drive Eco Retreat has been envisioned as Eastern India’s Glamping Festival- a unique experience of glamorous camping- set up in the pristine Rama Chandi beach near the UNESCO heritage monument Konark temple. Scheduled from December 14, 2019 to January 31,2020, the Eco Retreat promises to be a unique experience of glamorous camping in cottages, delectable cuisine, beach spa, adventure & water sports activities, trails and wholesome day itineraries, cultural evenings, and a lot more”.
