Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation (OLIC) chairman, Amaresh Patri, has called upon the Pani Panchyats to work for doubling the income of farmers.

Speaking on the occasion of observation of Pani Panchyat Fortnight, organised at OLIC headquarter, here on Friday, the chairman said that the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik is emphasising on doubling the farmers income in the State. To achieve this goal the Pani Panchyats are required to be made active, he added.

The inaugural ceremony of the Pani Panchyat Fortnight was organised under the chairmanship of Bhubaneswar LIC division executive engineer Prakash Chandra Swain. Superintendent engineer Manas Ranjan Patnaik and agriculture officers spoke on the occasion. The OLIC chairman distributed prizes and certificates to the winners of debate competition organised to create awareness among the farmers.

Over 200 farmers of Bhubaneswar division those are benefited by lift irrigation facilities during kharif and rabi season attended the Pani Panchayt Fortnight celebrations.
