Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Friday debarred the chrome ore mine owners from participating in the Odisha Mining Coproration’s (OMC) e-auction of the raw material.
Briefing media persons soon after the State cabinet, chief secretary Asit Tripathy said that the decision was taken with a view that this will help in discovery of fair market price of chrome ore, a scarce raw material.
The cabinet, which met under the chairmanship of chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, also decided to allow OMC to go for long term linkage(LTL) of raw materials with the end users.
Tripathy said the LTL buyers of OMC who are willing to invest in mechanised ore excavation system would be permitted LTL for over 5 years. This will facilitate OMC to ramp up its productions, he added.
The State government in 2014 has come out with a policy vide its notification No.1462/SM dated 17.09.2014 for long term ore linkage to end-users industries located in Odisha.
