Bhubaneswar: Odisha State Warehousing Corporation chairman and BJD leader Anup Sai has been arrested by Chhattisgarh police in a double murder case.

Sai was arrested by the Chakradhar Nagar Police of Raigagh on Wednesday night from his house in Jharsuguda. He was wanted in connection with the murder of one Kalpana Das(32) and her daughter Prabhati Das(14). In 2016, the two were murdered in Odisha and their bodies were disposed of in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

Sai, a three time Congress MLA from Brajarajnagar, had joined the ruling BJD in 2014. He had contested unsuccessfully from the constituency in 2014 in BJD ticket. In 2019 election, he was denied the BJD ticket. Sai, however, was made the chairman of the Odisha Warehousing Corporation soon after the election.
