Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police DGP, Abhay, directed that anti-Maoists operation be carried out intensively to keep pressure on the left wing extremist(LWE).
Abhay visited Bhawanipatana of Kalahandi and held a review meeting. The meeting was attended by Satyajit Mohanty, Special DG (Intelligence), Vinaytosh Mishra, ADGP (HQ), R.K. Sharma, ADGP (Intelligence), Amitabh Thakur, IGP (Operations), Shefeen Ahamed K, DIGP SWR, Anirudh Singh, DIGP SIW, B.Gangadhar, SP Kalahandi, Prateek Singh, SP Kandhamal and Saravana Vivek, SP Rayagada. The Review was mostly regarding the of L.W.E scenario in Kalahandi, Kandhamal and Rayagada Districts.
The DGP stressed on the continued dominance in the L.W.E affected areas by the security forces in addition to intelligence based joint operations between these 3 districts.
DGP also stressed the need to provide sufficient security for carrying out development works in the LWE affected areas.
The DGP expressed satisfaction in the progress of Anti-Maoist operations in these areas and said that it is a matter of pride that Odisha have been very much successful in curbing the Maoist menace in the last decade.
He underlined that police needs to keep up the momentum and continue to combat the Maoist menace effectively.
He also reviewed the crime and law & order situation, infrastructure requirement of police, force deployment and the implementation of “MO SARKAR and 5T initiative of government of Odisha in these three districts and expressed satisfaction about the progress.
