Bhubaneswar:Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) has been conferred with the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) 2019 for high impact community development programmes in and around its operational areas across Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
On behalf of the Company, JSPL Foundation chairman Shallu Jindal received the coveted award during 14th international conference on CSR organised by the Institute of Directors (IOD) in Mumbai. Former acting chairperson of National Human Rights Commission Cyriac Joseph, Founder of GMR Group GM Rao, president of IOD Lt. Gen. (Retd) JS Ahluwalia were present on the occasion.
Before receiving the award Jindal delivered the key note address on ‘Board Room Strategy for Sustainable CSR for promoting inclusive growth’. She focused on Board Room’s policy direction on People, Planet and Profit, not profit alone. She also underscored the need of inclusion of the underprivileged and socially vulnerable in the planning and execution of all CSR programmes aligning to UN SDG and Schedule VII of Section 135 of Company Act. She thanked IOD and the jury for selecting JSPL to receive this honour.
JSPL through its CSR Arm, JSPL Foundation, is implementing various social development programmes in the areas of health, education, livelihood development, infrastructure building, skill development, women empowerment and related areas across 550 villages in Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
Recently the JSPL was honoured with Women Achievers Award by Assocham for its Women Empowerment Initiatives. It has also won FICCI CSR Award, NGO BOX CSR Impact Award and India CSR Project of the decade Award, Golden Peacock Commendation on Sustainability 2019, and Mahatma Award for Social Good for its CSR Initiatives.
