Bhubaneswar: Odisha chief minister Navee Patnaik Saturday launched 26 industrial projects worth Rs 5567.50 crore. The new projects are in Steel, food processing, packaging, amusement and plastics sectors. The 26 projects will create job opportunities for 9168 persons.
The chief minister inaugurated the Aditya Birla’s renewable project in Boudh district, Jindal Stainless Ltd. project in Jajpur district and AKM Agro’s food processing project in Khurda district. He laid the foundation stones for 23 new projects.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said, ” As many as 26 projects that are launched today will create more than 9 thousand employment opportunities in the State.”
Stating that the State has seen unprecedented industrialization during the past 20 years, Patnaik said, “During this time, the State has attracted as many as 130 large industries with a combined capital investment of more than Rs 3.3 lakh crore and employment opportunity for over 2.25 lakh persons.”

The projects which were inaugurated by the Chief Minister today include:
1. Aditya Birla Renewable is setting up Solar Power Plant for the sector of Power & Renewable Energy with an investment of Rs. 352.5 crore at Harabhanga, Boudh providing employment of 80 peoples.
2. Jindal Stainless Ltd. is coming up to set up an expansion of cold Rolling Mill on Metal & Metal Downstream with an additional investment of Rs. 265 crore at Kalinganagar, Jajpurwith an employment potential of 550 peoples.
3. AKM Agro is setting up 30,000 TPA Vegetable Oil Manufacturing unit on food processing with an investment of Rs. 91.5 crore at Industrial Estate, Khurda providing employment of 384 peoples.
Besides the above, the event today witnessed a ground breaking ceremony of 23 industrial units across various sectors including; power & renewable energy, metal & metal downstream, food processing, tourism, fertilizer, refinery, petrochemical, chemical & plastics, pjarmaceuticals, textile & apparel.
The other dignitaries were present at the ceremony were industries minister Dibya Shankar Mishra and principal secretary Hemant Sharma.
Odisha has cornered 18 percent of the virgin investments drawn by all states and also edged past Maharashtra as the most attractive destination for investments during H1 or the April-September period of FY20 which is a huge achievement for the State.
