Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has extended the lockdown period till April 14,2020. The Statewide lockdown declared government is expiring on March 29, 2020.
In a notification issued by the State revenue and disaster management department has stated ” The State government do hereby order lockdown in the entire State of Odisha till mid-night of 14th April”.
The State government vide R & DM department notification 1706 dated March13 has declared COVID-19 as a ‘Disaster’ under section 2(d) of the Disaster Management Act,2005. It has declared Statewide lockdown under section 2 of the Epidemic Disease Act, 1897 and Odisha COVID-19 Regulations 2020 till 9pm of 29th March 2020.
However, following the prime minister Narendra Modi’s declaration of 21 days lockdown in the country and the subsequent directives and guidelines of the National Disaster Management Authority, the State government had to extend the lockdown till April 14.
