Bhubaneswar: Eminent Odia literature Prof. Niyananda Satpathy has passed away in a private hospital, here on Wednesday. He was 84.
Prof. Satpathy was suffering from cancer for quite some time. He was admitted to a private hospital recently when his health condition deteriorated recently.
Prof. Satpathy has served the Utkal University Odia Language department as professor for several years.
He has authored several books on Odia literature. His book on the history of Odia literature is an great reference book for students and scholars.
Odia literary magazine Isthaar, published and edited by Prof. Satpathy, has given several new writers, poets and critics to Odia language.
