Rourkela: Team Rourkela Steel Plant (ESP) bagged the Sail 16th Chairman’s Trophy award.
The award giving ceremony which was held on a distance mode by the MTI, Ranchi on Sunday was graced by Sail chairman Anil Kumar Chaudhary as chief guest. The function was also attended by the Directors, CEOs and other seniors of Sail.
The winning team from Rourkela Steel Plant comprises Avinash Patnaik, Senior Manager, Plate Mill, Ricky Agarwal, Manager, MSS, and S.Sreenath, Manager, Steel Melting Shop-I. Durgapur Steel Plant was the runners up in the event. In all 7 teams from different SAIL units participated in the finals of the prestigious competition held on 19th September 2020. The theme of the competition was “Inculcating a culture of profitability through a mindset of maximum value addition with minimum cost”.
Speaking on the occasion Chaudhary highlighted the importance and benefit of participating in such events which helps in understanding the business, planning, implementation and decision making processes. Implementation of the suggestions and inferences helps the company in multiple fronts, he stated.
The chairman also brought forth certain issues pertaining to the functioning of SAIL such as investment, increasing volume of production, improving quality, reducing inventory and cost of production.
Soma Mondal, Director (Commercial), Harinand Rai, Director (Technical, Projects and Raw Materials), Anirban Dasgupta, Director Incharge (Bhilai Steel Plant), Dipak Chattaraj, CEO, RSP and A V Kamlakar, CEO Incharge (DSP) also spoke on the occasion.
