New Delhi: The PM Carib Kalyan Yojana where is free ration is being provided to poor people has been extended for three month. The term of the Yojana, which was announced by prime minister Narendra Modi, to protect the poor during the Covid 19 pandemic, is closing on September 30, 2022.
With the extension of the Scheme period, people covered under National Food Ssecurity Act (NFSA) would get 5 kg rice/ wheat per head per month free of cost for another three months.
The union cabinet which met Wednesday under the chairmanship of PM Modi took a decision to this effect. The extension of the Scheme will require 122 lakh metric tonnes of food grains and will cost the exchequer Rs 44,762 crore.
