Bhubaneswar: Increase in global trade has reduced incidents of war in the world.
This has been said by eminent professor of CA University of US DrTriloki Nath Pandey, here on Saturday. He was delivering the Sudhansu Mishra Memorial Lecture on Globalisation and Discontent.
Prof. Pandey said increase of trade among nations would lead to reduction of warfare. Narrating his experience during his visits to China, Japan, Vietnam and also India, he said how globalization has brought about in its wake inequalities among rich and poor, among various ethnic groups in a society and among various sections of society.
Chief guest of the occassion Dr O.N.Mohanty, former V.C of BPUT, and guest of honour Prof Asha Hans, founder director of women’s studies, Utkal University, also addressed the gathering. President of CYSD Sri Jagadananda presided and conducted the proceedings. Annual report of Mamata for 2022-23 was presented containing various activities and programmes throughout the year on ” Art of giving, health services, disaster relief and actions touching lives of under privileged sections of society “.
A book titled ” Living on Edge: Women’s issues ” was brought out by Mamata was released on this occasion.
In their speeches, chief guest Dr Omkar Nath Mohanty spoke about India’s education policy which was very good, but poorly implemented. He also briefly spoke about India’s steel production. While India’s steel production is 120 million tonnes per annum, China produces 1000 to 1200 MTPA.The country is now planning to raise it to 300 million tonnes.
