Paradeep: World Health Day was celebrated at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) with the aim of promoting awareness about both physical and mental health among employees and workers, fostering a healthier and happier lifestyle.


Aligned with this year’s theme, ‘My Health, My Right’, a series of programs were organised throughout the week. Employees, workers, business partners, and their family members actively participated in the programs. On 5th April 2024, a drawing and colouring competition on the theme ‘Healthy Habits’ saw huge participation of children of pre-nursery to class 7. On 6th April, a walkathon was organised from the Plant gate to the medical campus in which more than 150 participants took part. The event was flagged off by Suresha G, Executive Director, Odisha Operations, AM/NS India. Post-walkathon, Dr. Ajit Jena, Chief Medical Officer, Odisha Assets, AM/NS India, shared valuable tips on heart health.
As part of the celebrations, renowned guest invitees, Dr. Ashis Panda, physiotherapist from Kalinga Hospital conducted a session on ergonomics while Dr. Deepak Behera, Senior Cardiologist of CARE Hospital conducted a cardiac clinic for the employees. Well-known dietician Dr. Guru Prasad Das emphasised the benefits of millets and a heart-healthy diet. There was also a wellness workshop by psychologists from MindPeers, focusing on mental health.
On World Health Day on April 7, 2024, a specialised health camp for adolescent girls was held at G.C. High School in Nuagarh which was attended by 56 adolescent girls. Dr. Niranjan Dwivedy led the medical team in providing health check-ups and essential medications, along with guidance on maintaining optimal health practices. An awareness camp on diabetes and blood pressure care was organised catering to villagers and Self-Help Groups, thus benefiting over 135 participants. Continuing the initiative, on 9th April a fitness camp organised by AM/NS India’s Health & Safety team featured external trainers conducting workout sessions emphasizing the importance of exercise.
Highlighting the significance of observing World Health Day, Sri Suresha G, said, “World Health Day is a reminder for us to prioritise health, adopt conscious lifestyle changes, and lead disease-free lives. At AM/NS India, we are committed to holistic well-being of our employees, partners, and the community at large”.
