Bhubaneswar: Hindalco Industries Ltd, the metal flagship company of Aditya Birla Group plans to invest around Rs. 25,000 crore in various upcoming industrial projects within Odisha in the near future.
Managing Director of Hindalco, Satish Pai on Thursday met Odisha chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Bhubaneswar to brief about activities of the company in Odisha and future investment plans. He also met industries minister Sampad Charan Swain at the State Secretariat and discussed about Hindalco’s industrial and CSR activities in Odisha.
Hindalco MD apprised the CM that presently, the company has made investment of over Rs. 30,000 crore in various industrial units operational within the State. For the key upcoming projects, Hindalco plans to invest another 25,000 crore.
The 3 MTPA Aditya Alumina Refinery of Hindalco at Kanshariguda in Rayagada district will have an investment of Rs. 8000 crore and it would have a significant impact on the economic development in the Rayagada and Koraput region. The second apparel manufacturing unit of Aditya Birla is also coming up near the refinery plant which would generate local employment for over 3000 girls and women.
The CM assured all necessary government support for the project and stressed on employment of local community members.
Hindalco MD further informed that the company is setting up an FRP Project in Lapanga, Sambalpur district with an investment of over Rs. 5000 crore. The project work has completed by almost 80 percent and its likely to be commissioned around January 2025.
Hindalco also plans a 1000 MW Floating Solar project at Hirakud which would have an investment of around Rs. 6000 crore. In addition, the company is doing the expansion of its Aluminium Smelter at Lapanga with a cost of about Rs. 7000 crore.
ACS to chief minister, Nikunj Dhal, president, Hindalco Ardhendhu Mohapatra, chairman of Utkal Alumina SK Mishra and advisor of Hindalco Bibhu Mishra were present in the meeting.
