Ranchi : NTPC Coal Mining Ltd. (NML) is committed to excellency and leadership in coal industry, said CEO NML and regional executive director coal mining Animesh Jain.

The CEO, while addressing after the flag hoisting at Coal Mining head quarter, here on Thursday, said, “In the fiscal year 2023-24, NTPC achieved remarkable milestones in mining operations with coal production of 34.39 MMT, with a year-on-year growth of 48.21%, while our dispatch stood at 34.15 MMT, increasing by 55.50% These achievements, underscore our commitment to excellence and our leadership in the coal industry.”

“NTPC’s subsidiary NML is working towards achieving self-reliance in the coal sector & mining with a vision of “Mining for Atmanirbharta ,Fueling NTPC” by adopting state-of-the-art and clean coal technologies to improve production.” said Jain.

He said as we reflect on our nation’s journey to independence, we must also consider our path towards energy independence &  Energy Atmanirbharta. 

“Today, coal accounts for about 70% of India’s electricity generation & accounts for 55% of the country’s energy needs, reflecting its critical role in our economy and daily lives.  NTPC and its wholly owned subsidiary NTPC Mining Limited(NML) are working hard to make India self-reliant in the energy sector towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ – a developed India ,said Jain.

“NTPC, India’s largest power utility, has demonstrated remarkable growth and operational excellence. With an installed capacity of 76,134 MW, NTPC achieved its highest-ever group generation of 422 BUs in FY 2024, growing by 6%. The company maintains a clear lead in PLF over the all-India average, reaching 77.3% for its coal stations in FY 2024.NTPC is rapidly transitioning towards cleaner energy, with plans to have over 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. The company aims to expand its total capacity to 130 GW+ by 2032, with 21 GW currently under construction and 26 GW in planning stages.

On the occasion, he expressed his sincere thanks to CMHQ Team  & project teams, seniors and peers in NTPC, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Coal, & other Government of India Ministries, State Government of Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and all the stakeholders & associates.

To recognise in  excellence in work performance and valuable contribution of the employees, Outstanding performance ,Merit Awards and Medha Pratiyogita were given to employees and family members.
