Bhubaneswar: The two-day annual sports festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhubaneswar, ‘Ashvamedha’, was concluded on Sunday. The event was organised by the Sports Council of Students’ Gymkhana, IIT Bhubaneswar.

The fourth edition of Ashvamedha witnessed an exponential growth in footfall, participation in competitions, events and e-sports, making it one of the biggest college sports fests of Odisha. The fest included Basketball, table tennis, lawn tennis, chess, weightlifting, football, volleyball, badminton, and other sports, witnessing participation of more than 750 players from around 23 colleges and institutions from the Eastern Zone.

Prof. Shreepad Karmalkar, Director, IIT Bhubaneswar graced the inaugural ceremony and rolled the ball. He encouraged the students to maintain their sportive spirit. The inauguration event was also attended by Prof. Rajesh Roshan Dash, Dean-Student Affairs, Dr. Kodanda Ram Mangipudi, President of Student’s Gymkhana, and Dr. Bankim Chandra Mandal, Faculty Advisor of Sports and Games. Abhishek Jakhar, the Chief Coordinator of the Fest coordinated the event successfully. It is noteworthy that like previous years, IIT Bhubaneswar again retained the championship trophy at the end of the two-day event.
