Bhubaneswar : The peak demand of power for Odisha would be 10,000 MW by the end of this decade.

Odisha chief minister Mohan Majhi while reviewing the State’s power situation on Friday directed the concerned officials to prepare a road map to meet the demand by 2029-30.

The chief minister said that demand for power is increasing due rapid industrialisation and growth of domestic power consumers. So, he said the State should work on a road map for generation and distribution of power keeping an eye on the future demand in the next five years.

There are 10 million power consumers in the State.

The CM emphasized on power generation both in thermal and green sectors should be promoted to keep the power surplus status of the State. He also stressed on strengthening of distribution infrastructures with instalation of new primary sub-station, 33kv, 12kv lines and high power transformer for existing 33/12 kv feeder lines.

Deputy CM KV Singhdeo, who holds the portfolio of energy, chief secretary Manoj Ahuja, CM ‘s additional chief secretary, Nikunja Bihari Dhal, principal secretary energy Hemant Sharma, along with OPTCL and OHPC directors and CEOs of Tata Power Discoms were present.
