Bhubaneswar : The three- membered high powered selection committee for selection of State Chief Information Commission met here on Saturday. The headed by chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi has recommended a name for appointment as State Chief Information Commission from the shortlisted two names. The committee meeting held at State Guest House on Saturday was attended by State law minister Pruthiviraj Harichandan and leader of the opposition Naveen Pataik.

The selected name has been recommended to the Odisha governor for consent and formal appointment.

The Committee meeting usually held in the State Secretariat. However, this time it was held in the State Guest House on the insistance of LoP Naveen Patnaik.

There were 43 applicants who had appiled for post. Applications from four persons were received after the due date.

The Committee is soon going to meet to select names for four posts of information commission. There are 179 candidates for the posts. Applicatons of four have been received after due date.
