Bhubaneswar: High voting percentage in Nabarangpur and Kalahandi Lok Sabha constituencies, which went for polling on Thursday, hold potential for surprises.
Nabarangpur recorded the highest voters turnout of 78.89% while Kalahandi reported high 75.82% voters casting their votes in the first phase of polling in the state. Koraput also witnessed high voters turn out of 74.77% while Berhampur a lower of 65.57%.
High voters turnout in Nabarangpur and Kalahandi clearly indicates that there was a fierce fighting among the contenders. The two constituencies perhaps engaged in a triangular fight among BJD, Congress and BJP. In Nabarangpur the fight is among BJD’s Ramesh Majhi, Congress Pradip Majhi and BJP’s Balabhadra Majhi. Similarly, in Kalahandi the fight is amongh BJD’s Pushpendra Majhi, Congress’ Bhakta Charan Das and BJP’s Basanta Panda. In this two constituencies, the Congress is giving a tough fight to the defender BJD and the opposition BJP.
In Koraput, the fight is between BJD’s Koushalya Hikaka and BJP’s Jayram Pandi. However, in Berhampur, perhaps, it is going one sided in favour of the BJD as low voters turn out indicates.
However, in Nabarangpur and Kalahandi, in a triangular contest, it is advantage for the ruling BJD. Since, more number of women voters have participated this time, the BJD has reason to smile. But, these two constituencies may spring up some surprises.
