Bhubaneswar: Bobby Mohanty with Rs 106 crore assets is the richest candidate in the Phase-3 assembly elections in Odisha. He is followed by Congress president Niranjan Patnaik and independent candidate Srimanta Kumar Tripathy whose electoral fates would be decided on April 23.
Who is Bobby?
Bobby is the Congress candidate from Badamba assembly constituency.
A geologist, Bobby is having three bungalows at Juhu in Mumbai, one duplex in Goa, one flat each in Bhubaneswar and Delhi, besides a luxirous flat at London. He has 22 bank accounts with one in HSBC city branch in London with 48 crore balance. His fleet of cars includes one Jaguaar car and two Mercedes Benz.
The rich son of Badamba through his BobbyMohanty Foundation was engaged in social works like women empowerment and treatment of kidney patients in the constituency for quite some time.
Bobby is engaged an fierce electoral battle with BJD’s veteran Debi Prasad Mishra in the constituency.
Niranjan, the PCC president who is contenting from Ghasipura constituency in Keonjhar, has declared assets of Rs 60 crore. Tripathy, who is contesting from Champua in Keonjhar, is having assets of Rs 46 crore.
There are 103 crorepati(29%) out of the 354 candidates those are in the fray for the assembly elections. While 32 of the 42 candidates of BJD, 24 out of 42 BJP and 23 out of 41 of Congress are declared themselves as crorepatis.
In the crowd of crorepati, one penniless candidate is also seeking his electoral fate. Subarat Kumar Habadasingh of Hindustan Nirman Dal, who is contesting from Chilika, has declared zero assets.
