Bhubaneswar: Ranchi-based Forest Productive Institute(FPI) will prepare the DPR (detailed project report) for Mahanadi river rejuvenation project while the Hyderabad-based Forest Biodiversity Institute would prepare the DPR for the Godavari river.
The state principal secretary, water resources, Pradip Kumar Jena, said that the ministry of forest, environment and climate change has taken a decision to rejuvenate and conserve 13 major rivers of the country. Out of the 13, the DPR for the Mahanadi and Godavari river projects would be carried out by FPI of Ranchi and FDI of Hyderabad respectively.
Addressing the workshop, organised here on Monday to prepare the primary project report with consultation with the stake holders, Jena said that there is need to remove all the obstacles on the path of the rivers.
Odisha government’s chief principal conservator of forest Sandip Tripathy, additional principal conservator of forest, AK Pathak, FPI scientist Sarat Tiwari, PK Das, Retired dean of wildlife institute, Derhadoon, PK Mathur, scientists PH Chouhan, R Johari, and S Patnaik, also addressed the workshop.
