Bhubaneswar: Due to enforcement of model code of conduct for the general elections 2019, the state’s plan expenditure has suffered during the April-May period of the current fiscal. Plan expenditure has slipped by 19% to Rs 8746 crore during the first two months of 2019-20.
The chief secretary, AP Padhi, Wednesday reviewed the progress of revenue collections and plan expenditure during the April-May period. He urged the officers to expedite the developmental works to make up for the shotfall in the plan expenditure.
The state principal secretary, finance, Ashok Meena, told the review meeting, that the state’s own revenue has clocked a growth of 19% in April-May period of 2019-20. The revenue collection was Rs 6505 crore in the first two months of the current fiscal against Rs 5466 crore collected during the corresponding period the previous year.
The state own tax collection growth is 8.25% and non-tax collection growth is 43.21% . The revenue from mining sector has registered a growth of 51.18% and water cess from industries is 16.22%.
Development commissioiner Asit Tripathy, agriculture production commissioner Gagan Dhal, additional chief secretary forest and environment Suresh Mohapatra, and steel & mines principal secretary RK Sharma were present in the review meeting.
