Cuttack: BJD’s Kendrapada Lok Sabha MP Anubhav Mohanty has allegedly spit on the face of a woman journalist.
According to an FIR lodged with the Purighat Police Station by a woman journalist, the film star turned politician had abused her and spit on her face. Stating that Anubav’s brother Anuprash was harassing her, the woman journalist has stated that the incident happened when she went to the actor’s house in Choudhury Bazaar on June 13 to complaint about the behaviour of Anuprash. .
“Anubhav’s brother, Anuprash has been harassing me since the last two years. I had even discussed the matter with my husband. I had gone to their house last night to complain about this. However, Anubhav and his brother abused me, threatened me of dire consequences and spit on me. Today, I have filed an FIR with Purighat Police Station and I seek justice,” said the complainant.
A case under IPC sections- 294, 354 (A), 323, 34 has been registered against Anubhav and Anuprash based on the complaint filed by the scribe.
Anubhav, however, denied the allegations stating that those were baseless and fabricated. He said that the matter is now with the police and let the investigation come out with the truth.
According to Anubhav, one woman was creating a scene outside his house on the night of June 13 at about 1.30 am. He said that he and his actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini tried to pacify her but failed. “In fact, we called the PCR police to drop her at her home”, asserted Anubhav wondering that the same woman has filed a complaint against him and his wife.
Anubhav is in national media for his spectacular electoral victory against BJP’s heavyweight Baijyanta Panda. Anubhav has defeated Panda by over one lakh margin in Kendrapada Lok Sabha constituency in the recent elections.
