Bhubaneswar: The Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, released a coffee table book–Paree Paain Kathatiye– and a documentary film on Paree on the occasion of one day workshop on safety of women and children, here on Saturday.
Patnaik, while addressing the “National Workshop on wide consultation by stakeholders on safety of women and children”, said that the fortnight long Paree Paain Kathatiye launched by the Odisha police was a phenomenal success in sensitising all the stake holders on prevention of crime against children.
“The police have a responsibility to create a secured environement for the citizens. I expect the State police to take prompt, effective and exemplary action against anti-socials and criminals.”
He urged the stakeholders attending the workshop to evolve an effective action plan to ensure safety of women and children.
The workshop, jointly organised by the National Police Foundation & Institute and the UNICEF, was also attended by the minister of state for home Dibya Sankar Mishra, development commissioner Asit Tripathy, DGP Dr. RP Sharma, women & child development principal secretary Anu Garg, chairman National Police Foundation Prakash Singh and UNICEF representative Dr. Monica Neilson.
