Bhubaneswar: The Puri Samuka Tourism Project has been put on fast track with the project getting all the statutory clearances.
The Odisha government is developing world class tourism facilities for ultra-rich tourists on the sea beach in the outskirt of Puri city.
At a high-level meeting, chaired by chief secretary, Asit Tripathy, the progress of the project was reviewed.
The tourism secretary, Vishal Dev, appraised the meeting that a joint venture in the style of Samuka Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) has formed by the Odisha Tourism Corporation and Idco. The Project has been accorded permission by the State Pollution Control Board, Coastal Regulatory Zone Authorities (CRZA) and also the Puri-Konark Development Authority. A total of 972 acres of land has been acquired for the Project, he informed.
Dev said some modification in the master plan is being carried out in view of the changing topography of the area. He said that due to natural process some sand mounds have come up near the project. The new master plan would include those mounds in the project. According to him, the new master plan would be ready in four months time.
The tourism secretary said that the Samuka Tourism project will have 7-star luxury hotels, villa, residential apartment, amusement parks, water sports facilities, golf course, spa, street bazaar, art & culture centre, museum, helipad, open space and park.
Development commissioner Suresh Mohapatra, revenue & disaster management principal secretary Nikunja Dhal, tourism director Sachin Yadav and Puri district collector Balwant Singh were present.
