Bhubaneswar: After bureaucrats, the Odisha chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, has directed the ministers to go for surprise visits. Patnaik on Tuesday directed his ministers to conduct surprise visits to government run schools and orphanages and check food quality by dining with the the students and inmates.
The chief minister in a directive said, “Instead of having lunch at hotels or somewhere else, the ministers can have food at state-run institutions for orphans, school children and differently-abled persons so that they can get a taste of the quality of food being served to them. The surprise visits will ensure better quality and administration of the centres.”
The ministers’ feedback and recommendations following surprise visits would create scope for the government to enhance the governance and delivery system, he said.
Patnaik has cautioned the ministers to have maximum 3-4 people with them while conducting the surprise visits.
Earlier, this month top bureaucrats visited hospitals, Aahar centres to have first hand information about the ground realities. Chief secretary Asit Tripathy, development commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, 5Ts secretary VK Pandian, senior officials of CMO visited various district hospitals to check the delivery system.
