Bhubaneswar: The Odisha headquartered East Coast Railway zone has got Rs 5865 crore in the Railway Budget for the fiscal 2020-21. Out of the total Rs 5868 crore Rs 4373 crore is outlay for projects, which is less than Rs4593 crore received in 2019-20.
All the ongoing major projects have received higher allocation compared to 2019-20. Khorda Road-Bolangir has got Rs520crore( Rs350 crore), while Angul-Sukinda project has received Rs450 crore ( Rs250 crore).
The State has got a new line Sambalpur-Gopalpur via Phulbani. The 241km long railwayline will be taken up with an investment of Rs 2957 crore provided the NITI Aayog give its nod to the project.
The Haridaspur-Paradip railway line will be commissioned this year. For completing the work the required Rs100 crore has been provided in the budget. In 2019-20, Rs 400 crore had been sanctioned for the project.
Significant budget provisions have been made for doubling Sambalpur-Talcher, Sambalpur-Titlagarh, Titlagarh-Rayagada and Titlagarh-Raipur railway lines.
Electrification of Khorda Road-Bolangir and Lanjigarh Road-Junagarh Road has been given priorities in the Budget.
