Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Monday announced that it would provide chopper service, if required be, to transfer human organ for cadaveric transplantations.
The Odisha 5T secretary, VK Pandian, said that the government is ready to put in service chopper to facilitate cadaveric transplantaion in the State.
The chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, Monday felicitated the doctors of Cuttack SCB Medical College and Apollo Hospital, Bhubaneswar, for the successful cadaveric transplantation of human organs. He described that the cadaveric transplantation is one of the finest example of application of 5T.
The two kidneys removed from the body of P. Priyankarani Patra of Ganjam, who was declared brain dead, were successfully transplanted in two patients in SCB Medial College and Apollo Hospital.
SCB Medical College nephrology department head Dr.Chitta Ranjan Kar and Apollo Hospital’s urology department head Dr.Sameran Das Adhikari said that the two patients are in good health after the transplantation. They gave a presentation about the transplantation before the chief minister.
State health principal secretary Nikunja Dhal, transplant surery and urology professior Dr.Datteswar Hota, professor Jayashree Mohanty, professor Saroj Kanta Sahoo, Dr. Sabyasachi Panda, Dr. Sanjya Choudhury, Dr.Kalyanibala Nayak, Dr. Rudrasis Samal, Dr. LN Behera Anandita Sabat, Suman Singh, Ramakanta Panda and Sabitri Das of SCB Medical College and Dr. Sharmili Sinha, Dr Bibekananda Panda, Dr. Debabrata Dash, Dr. Subrat Sahoo, Dr. Nitish Mohanty, Sudhir Digikar, and Ashok Nyak of Apollo Hospital were present.
