Bhubaneswar: Recently when 11 passengers were electrocuted as the bus carrying them came across an 11KV overhead live wire, three State government departments started blaming each other. The transport department blamed then energy department for low laying the live wire which in turn pushed the blame on rural development department pointing out that road level was increased reducing the ground clearance.
The CMD of Gridco and OPTCL, Sourav Garg, has said that it’s not only the energy department, all the line departments dealing with public infrastructure should ensure safety compliance during planning and execution of their projects. Asserting that most common cause to any electrical hazard at public place is due to compromise in ground clearance, Garg emphasised on inter-departmental co-ordination for safety of public.
Garg, who is the principal secretary agriculture, was speaking at the State-level Safety Day, organized by OPTCL, here on Wednesday.
Energy minister Dibya Sankar Mishra, energy principal secretary Bishnupada Sethi, CESU CEO Arun Bothra, EIC Electricity Santosh Das, Gridco ED Ashis Iswar Patil, OPTCL director (operation) UK Mishrs, CGM safety JK Senapati and GM HRD CS Pradhan also spoke on the occasion.
