Bhubaneswar: Further consolidating its complete market leadership in Odisha, Reliance Jio added over 2.8 lakh subscribers in the month of January 2020, as per the latest mobile subscriber data released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).
As the No. 1 mobile service provider in the state with highest number of subscribers as well as revenue market share, Reliance Jio has over 1.20 crore subscribers in the state as on January 31st, 2020, as per the subscriber data released by TRAI.
Overall mobile subscriber base in Odisha witnessed an increase of nearly 1.59 lakh subscribers in the month of January taking the total mobile users in Odisha to nearly 3.32 crores. As per the TRAI data for January 2020, Reliance Jio leads the market with 1,20,82,110 subscribers followed by Bharti Airtel with 1,16,18,841 subscribers, BSNL with 61,00,003 and Vodafone Idea with 3370789 subscribers in the state. Only Jio and BSNL were able to add subscribers in the month while both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea lost thousands of subscribers in the state during same period, revealed the report. While Jio added over 2.8 lakh subscribers in January and BSNL added over 76000 subscribers, Bharti Airtel lost over 1.37 lakh subscribers followed by Vodafone Idea which lost over 59000 subscribers in the month.
Nationally also Jio further consolidated its position as the No. 1 mobile service provide with addition of over 65 lakh subscribers in Janauary 2020, as per the data released by TRAI.
As the market leader in Odisha in both subscribers and revenue market share, Jio presently has over 36.4% subscriber market share and 58% revenue market share (AGR) in the State. The rapid and continuous rise in the number of Jio subscribers in the state has been fuelled by its all 4G network, fast expansion of its 4G network coverage in the hitherto unconnected hinterlands and the hugely popular affordable ‘JioPhone – India ka Smartphone’ among the rural as well as semi-urban population.
