Bhubaneswar: It was a night of great anxiety for the Odisha SRC PK Jena on Tuesday. Jena had a worse sleepless night as conflicting reports about the cyclone Amphan started coming in in the evening.
On Tuesday, SRC PK Jena was little bit relaxed when the report came in that the cyclone Amphan will make the landfall in Sunderban in West Bengal after kissing Odisha coast.
However, his tension mounted when conflicting reports about the route of the cyclone started coming in. A report suggested that the cyclone may suddenly change its route toward west pass closure to Odisha coast. This means it would severely affect the Odisha districts of Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
Jena rang up collectors of three districts at 3 O’clock in the night and directed them to take additional steps to control the possible damages.
Jena, however, heaved a sigh of relief when the IMD director general Mrutunjaya Mohapatra, in the wee hours of Wednesday morning, assured him that there is absolutely no possibly of the cyclone changing it’s route.
Jena said that Mohapatra told me that the cyclone would not come closure to Odisha coast. “It will take the path as determined by the IMD”, Jena said quoting the IMD chief. The cyclone is moving in the same direction as told by the IMD director general, he added.
