Bhubaneswar: The prime minister, Narendra Modi, Friday announced Rs 500 crore advance financial assistance for immediate relief and restoration works in Cyclone Amphan hit areas of Odisha.
The prime minister, in a review meeting held at Bhubaneswar airport, praised the Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik and his team for cyclone preparedness and relief and restoration works.
He said that a Central team will visit immediately after the State government submitted it’s detail damage report. He assured that the Centre would work with the State in rebuilding the cyclone affected areas.
The prime minister after arrival at Bhubaneswar airport from Kolkata left for an aerial survey of the Amphan affected areas of the State. He was accompanied by governor Ganeshi Lal and chief minister Naveen Patnaik . The prime minister surveyed vast areas of the four coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapara for about two hours.
The prime minister’s review meeting was attended by chief minister Naveen Patnaik, governor Ganeshi Lal, union petroleum and steel minister Dharmendra Pradhan and union MSME minister Pratap Sarangi. Also present were Odisha chief secretary Asit Tripathy and special relief commissioner PK Jena.
