Bhubaneswar: The local MSME entrepreneurs were urged take advantage of procurements by CPSUs and big industrial houses. The speakers’ were deliberating at the 2nd edition of Propack Odisha International Expo 2023 and Odisha Plast International Expo 2023, organised Assembly of Small and Medium Enterprise (OASME) and Futurex Group in collaboration with ministry of MSME, and the department of MSME, government of Odisha, here on Saturday.
The theme of the event was ‘As Odisha Shines – MSME Networking Event with CPSUs and Large Industries of Odisha. Sadashiv Samantaray, director commercial Nalco, Somanath Tripathy, executive director, RSP, Atul Pandey, additional general manager, NTPC, CS Rao, general manager, MM, MCL, Malay Mohapatra, chief manager (outsourcing), HAL, Sudhi Ranjan Mishra, head, corporate affairs, PPL, P.K. Gupta, IEDS, joint director and HOO, MSME DFO, ministry of MSME, Nihar Das, chief manager training SDI-B, P.K. Mohapatra, joint GM technical IFFCO participated in the discussion.
CS Rao, general manager, MM, MCL said, “Ample scope of business opportunity through MSME for coal India, MSME players need to register themselves and avail the opportunities.”
Addressing the gathering Somanath Tripathy said, “50% procurement of RSP are from the MSME sector and13.54% are from Odisha based MSME. He urged the local MSME to take part in the procurement procedure in large numbers.”
Dr. Sanjay Tyagi, Scientist E-II & in charge, Paper Testing Division, Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute shared his views on the application of bio polymers in food packaging and Dr. B.K Sahu, senior regional manager & head, NRDC Vizag spoke on “Innovative Technologies Transfer & Commercialization and IP Facilitation to MSME”
A detailed description on the role of CIPET in Odisha was given by Pramod Kumar Sahoo, principal director & head, CIPET: IPT Bhubaneswar, and Dr. D.L Pandya, editor and CEO Medical Plastics Data Service, a magazine for plastic industry, classic computer services, Ahmedabad gave his insights on the medical devices and plastics industries.
The two day Expo was closed with a session on Mindful Meadows along with a small activity conducted by Zahid Akhtar, founder Life, assisted by social activist Nivedita Satpathy.
